Favorite 2020 wedding trends

2020 Weddings are all about PERSONALIZATION + COLOR!!

As a Wedding Photographer, I love researching wedding trends to expect for the year. From dresses to details to decor, I get so excited to see what I may be lucky enough to capture for my weddings in Savannah and elsewhere! Here are some of my absolute favorite 2020 Wedding Trends!

Color Palettes

Neo-mint + Forrest Green

Greenery continues to be a thing into the new year! However, there seems to be a ton more vibrancy showing through using the bright Mint against a darker Forrest green. Of course a little pop of Rose add just the perfect touch!

Champagne + Mustard Yellow

Like I said - COLOR is in! And it makes me soooo so so excited! This palette is way more monochromatic but that yellow pops oh so good! It just screams spring and summer (which I’m also patiently waiting for ha)

Terra Cotta + Lilac

Moving more into a fall-ish vibe, this rich color palette was meant to be. Just imagine sunset! Keeping the warm shades of Terra Cotta as the main color and adding pops of light lilac and deep purple hues are just magical!

Rust Orange, Blue + Gold

If you’re looking for something dramatic, here you go! Blue is the “color of the year” and it can be taken to the lighter side or the moodier side like this. With Rust Orange standing out so beautifully against the darker blue and the gold keeping the elegant touch to your special day - you literally cannot go wrong! And if one of my 2020 Brides could manage this tablescape set-up, I will be forever grateful because it is GORG!

DRESSES!
Dresses are one of my favorite parts of the wedding day. I mean, they’re so pretty. And I LOVE it when the chosen dress is dramatic!! And that could be by providing a ton of movement OR by having incredible detail and shape!
For 2020 Wedding Dresses be on the look out for the following:

-Dramatic Sleeves

-Ruffles

-Nude and Blush Tones

—All over Crochet Lace

-Detachable features (skirts, CAPES, etc)

CAKE! Cake! CAKE!
Who loves cake? I know I do! Y’all baking and decorating these beauties is not for the faint of heart and takes some serious skill + talent! I got totally happy when I was going through the 2020 Wedding Cake Trends because they are jaw-dropping.

Look for Hand Painted - Geometric Designs - Brushstrokes - Ruffles - Sugar Pearls

Bridesmaids + Groomsmen

One major trend, which I love as a photographer, is the downsize of the bridal party. Big bridal parties are honestly almost always a mess. It’s a lot to keep up with for anyone, especially if there is alcohol involved, and usually ends up being a huge stress to the Bride and Groom. And photographing a large and buzzy wedding party is well… kind of like herding wet cats 😅. Do yourself a favor, and keep it simple. Some couples are beginning to even avoid this all together and choosing to include their friends and family in other ways throughout the wedding day! Most definitely an easy way to avoid hurt feelings!

Here are some other favorite trends of mine for Bridesmaids and Groomsmen

Bridesmaids Dresses - mixes blues, boho mix match, cinnamon rose, sage green, velvet, rusty orange, and gray off the shoulder.

Groomsmen Attire - velvet, jewel tones, playful tie patterns, contrasting vests, and Navy.

Floral 2020 Wedding Trends

What would a Wedding be without flowers? Well, it would still be a wedding ha! And if flowers aren’t your thing - no worries either. Minimalist decor and other options have emerged. So you do you! But if you do love flowers here are some trends to consider for your wedding!
COLOR - Sun palms - Bleached Greenery - Monochromatic pallets - Trailing flowers - Hanging Florals - COLOR

Did you know the Dahlia is the 2020 Wedding Flower?

I think the hanging florals trend is one of my favorites. It adds such a magical feeling!

Embellished Accessories

Little details make BIG statements. They are also the perfect way to add even more of YOU into your wedding. Embellished accessories also make for amazing photography opportunities to complete the story of your day. One of my favorite things to capture.

Lucite Details

Also known as clear acrylic, little touches of these throughout the decor can really add a modern yet elegant feel. Think place cards to seating to table numbers and menus. And don’t forget enclosed containers filled with flowers!

BALLOONS!!

Yes, you read that right! Balloons! And personally, this is a top favorite trend for me. Balloons add an element of playfulness and fun to a wedding. And the LED lit balloons make for a pretty unique exit, if you’re looking for something other than sparklers!

Folio Invitations

This is a pretty pricey trend… But they would make for some killer detail images of the Invitation Suite!! So I’m not too mad about it

Neon Lights

This is a fun one! From witty phrases to your last name these neon signs make perfect photo-ops for your guests and YOU!

With more intimate weddings becoming the thing, and smaller numbers mean couples can focus more on the total experience. Which I love! Weddings can get expensive real quick and while these are all super fun trends to consider, always - ALWAYS create your budget first and put in order what is most important to YOU! That was you can realistically plan out what you can and cannot spend the money on. Vendors appreciate this so much as well because it allows us to show you what we can offer within your constraints without wasting anyone’s time. No matter what make sure your big day reflects you two as a couple in the best way! You don’t have to follow trends for your wedding to be beautiful, unique, and full of love. Because LOVE is what it’s all about!!

But for real, I won’t be mad if I get to photograph balloons, neon signs, and SO MUCH COLOR this year!

Happy Wedding Planning!
